Trump Eviscerates Gavin ‘Newscum’ As Wildfires Rage In LA: ‘Incompetent Governor’

As devastating wildfires rage across Los Angeles County, President-elect Donald Trump has taken to Truth Social to blast California Governor Gavin Newsom for his handling of the crisis, branding him “Gavin Newscum” and accusing him of incompetence. Three wildfires are currently burning in Los Angeles County, including blazes in the Pacific Palisades and Sylmar neighborhoods and near the city of Pasadena. Officials confirmed Wednesday morning that the fires remain at zero percent containment, fueled by powerful Santa Ana winds.

Governor Newsom declared a state of emergency, and over 30,000 residents faced evacuation orders. By Tuesday evening, more than 200,000 Los Angeles County residents were without power, and officials warned that the worst of the winds were yet to come. Trump, never one to mince words, unleashed a scathing attack on Newsom early Wednesday on Truth Social.

“Governor Gavin Newscum refused to sign the water restoration declaration put before him that would have allowed millions of gallons of water, from excess rain and snow melt from the North, to flow daily into many parts of California, including the areas that are currently burning in a virtually apocalyptic way,” Trump wrote. The former president criticized Newsom for prioritizing environmental regulations over human safety, referring to the governor’s efforts to protect a small fish species called the delta smelt. “He wanted to protect an essentially worthless fish called a smelt, by giving it less water (it didn’t work!), but didn’t care about the people of California. Now the ultimate price is being paid,” Trump wrote, emphasizing the importance of water access for firefighting efforts.

Governor Newsom said in a statement, “This is a highly dangerous windstorm that’s creating extreme fire risk – and we’re not out of the woods. We’re already seeing the destructive impacts with this fire in Pacific Palisades that grew rapidly in a matter of minutes. Our deepest thanks go to our expert firefighters and first responders who jumped quickly into fighting this dangerous fire. If you’re in Southern California, please pay attention to weather reports and follow any guidance from emergency officials.”

President Joe Biden also said in a statement, “My team and I are in touch with state and local officials, and I have offered any federal assistance that is needed to help suppress the terrible Pacific Palisades fire. Earlier tonight, FEMA approved a Fire Management Assistance Grant to support areas that are impacted and help reimburse the state of California for the immediate firefighting costs. My Administration will do everything it can to support the response.”

The blazes, intensified by strong winds, have overwhelmed firefighting resources. Trump pointed to water shortages and a lack of proper firefighting infrastructure, blaming the Democratic governor for what he described as avoidable mismanagement. “I will demand that this incompetent governor allow beautiful, clean, fresh water to FLOW INTO CALIFORNIA! He is the blame for this. On top of it all, no water for fire hydrants, not firefighting planes. A true disaster!” Trump finished.

The wildfires have once again thrust California’s ongoing water management issues into the national spotlight. Trump has previously criticized the state for flawed environmental policies, particularly regarding water distribution and fire prevention. Newsom has yet to respond directly to Trump’s remarks. Meanwhile, emergency crews continue their battle against the flames, working tirelessly to save lives and property. Firefighters face enormous challenges as dry conditions and gusting winds create an explosive environment for the fires to spread.
