Recently, Donald Trump made what he called a “major announcement” on Truth Social, the very platform he created after being banned from Twitter before Elon Musk took over. Some thought his announcement would be his running mate or other vital political moves going in to the 2024 Presidential election but it was something that almost no one saw coming.
Instead former President Trump announced something very different; his own personal collection of Trump-themed NFT cards.
“My official Donald Trump Digital Trading Card collection is here!” he posted on Thursday. Trump said on Truth Social. Despite never calling the cards “NFT” which stands for Non-fungible Token, that is in fact what the cards are. The cards which amounted to be 45,000, were on Polygon blockchain and listed at $99 a piece.
Many leftists criticized the idea of Trump having NFTs but it appears that the forty-fifth President got the last laugh on this one. Within twelve hours every card had sold out meaning Trump raised a whopping $4.45 MILLION in just half a day.
The money however is not necessarily going to Trump’s campaign but Trump used his likeness and license to raise his own money.
If you don’t know what NFTs are, they are tokens that are listed on a blockchain to enforce ownership of the online asset, similar to owning a piece of art or other sort of commodity. NFTs have become popular as of late and some have reached the price of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Donald Trump claimed that the NFTs that he put forth are “very much like a baseball card, but hopefully much more exciting.” If one purchases a Trump NFT the individual is entered in a raffle that may lead to a one on one meeting with the former President at his current residence in Mar a Lago. Some folks even bought forty five cards which gets you a meet and greet at his upcoming gala dinner at Mar a lago as well.
It appears that Donald Trump’s prominence in the business market has not wained at all, this only proves that Trump is still at the top of his game. Not only that, Trump is author of the infamous book “The Art of The Deal” and in this instance he truly put his art inside his deal.
