Trump Issues Chilling Statement On DOGE’s Latest ‘Horrible’ Discovery: ‘You Will Find Out Very Soon’

President Donald Trump threw cold water on the notion that Elon Musk will be leaving the federal government sooner than expected, saying that his U.S. Department of Government Efficiency has made a “horrible” discovery that will come to light “very soon.”

The chilling remark immediately kicked off speculation online about what could top the already startling findings by his cost-cutting agency, including the storage of government employee retirement files in an old limestone mine and revelations that “thousands” of illegal immigrants and asylum seeks were able to cast votes in the 2024 election after being improperly assigned Social Security numbers.

“Elon is fantastic, and he’s a patriot and I think it’s a shame what they’re doing with his car company,” Trump said aboard Air Force One when asked how long the Tesla founder plans to remain in his role as a special government employee. “As long as he likes it. I like smart people and he’s a smart person.”

As in past remarks, Trump indicated that Musk intends to return to managing Tesla and SpaceX, the two companies he founded, as well as social media company X, which he purchased in 2022 and closely monitors. Thanks to Musk, “hundreds of millions of dollars of fraud, abuse, and waste” have been uncovered, he added.

“They found something today that’s horrible, it’s horrible,” Trump continued. Asked to clarify the finding, he replied cryptically, “you’ll find out very soon.”

For most of the president’s first 73 days in office, DOGE findings and their subsequent fallout have consumed the airwaves and often competed against one another as the media works frenetically to cover a seemingly endless string of actions. The outcry from Democrats has been persistent, but so too has the shared belief by a majority of Americans in the mission of DOGE to root waste and abuse from the federal government, polls show.

Musk last week claimed that the U.S. National Parks Service commissioned a survey of park users that cost the department upwards of $1 billion to produce.

“And then there appeared to be no feedback loop for what would be done with that survey. So the survey would just go into nothing,” he told Fox News.

In a March 19th post on X, DOGE clarified that the Federal Consulting Group, an arm of the Department of the Interior, “brokered a $75M contract to design website customer satisfaction surveys, and then attempted to award $830M to conduct similar surveys.” Through DOGE, those activities were canceled, NBC News reported.
