Trump Issues Response To Cracker Barrel Controversy

President Donald Trump weighed in on the spiraling Cracker Barrel controversy on Tuesday, sharing his take on the restaurant chain’s “woke” new logo that has caused consternation among its devoted customers.

Surprising no one, the Republican sided with conservatives who have panned the lifeless new logo for removing Uncle Herschel, who was depicted leaning against a barrel on his old-timey porch next to the store’s name.

“Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

But all press is good press, Trump went on, and Cracker Barrel can capitalize on the moment if the company “plays their cards right.”

“They got a Billion Dollars worth of free publicity if they play their cards right. Very tricky to do, but a great opportunity,” he said.

A spokesman for Cracker Barrel admitted on Monday that the company “could’ve done a better job sharing who we are and who we’ll always be” after customers were left outraged by the logo overhaul.

“If the last few days have shown us anything, it’s how deeply people care about Cracker Barrel. We’re truly grateful for your heartfelt voices,” the company said, according to Fox Business. “You’ve also shown us that we could’ve done a better job sharing who we are and who we’ll always be.”

Trump, never missing an opportunity to tout his own return to the White House, compared his triumphant 2024 victory with a fortuitous turnaround that may befall Cracker Barrel if the company takes his advice.

“Have a major News Conference today. Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again. Remember, in just a short period of time I made the United States of America the ‘HOTTEST’ Country anywhere in the World. One year ago, it was ‘DEAD.’ Good luck!” Trump added.

Conservative revolts against corporations are a staple of the 21st-century culture war.

Unrest over DEI policies, transgender accommodations, and other flashpoints kicked off in earnest in 2023, when Bud Light suffered permanent devastation to its brand after hiring a transgender social media influencer to sell its beer. Over time, the debate expanded to other Fortune 500 staples like Target, Kohl’s, and John Deere, and even sports franchises like the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Being slow to respond can be equally damaging, as seen in follow-up reporting about Cracker Barrel’s famous peg game, which recently underwent a verbal overhaul to discourage taunting among competitors.

“Leave only one – you’re a genius. Leave two and you’re purty smart. Leave three and you’re just plain dumb. Leave four or mor’n you’re just plain eg-no-ra-moose,” the game’s instructions once read, Fox News reported.

Now, if a player leaves three or more pegs on the board, the game states, “Don’t be embarassed [sic], try again!”
