Trump Responds To Jimmy Kimmel’s Embarrassing Oscars Moment: ‘This Guy Is Even Dumber Than I Thought’
Former President Donald Trump responded to late night host Jimmy Kimmel’s embarrassing Oscars moment during a recent interview with Fox News, stating that the ABC host is “even dumber than I thought.”
While hosting the Academy Awards last week, the fanatical Trump hater took time out of the presentation to respond to one of Trump’s TruthSocial posts. “I’m really proud of something,” said Kimmel while pulling out his phone to read Trump’s roast.
“Has there ever been a worse host than Jimmy Kimmel at the Oscars?’” he read from Truth Social. “‘His opening was that of a less-than-average person who is trying too hard to be something which he is not and never can be,’” prompting massive laughter from the audience.
Kimmel faced criticism for the deviation, with many saying that it took away from the nominees and forced a rushed reading of the Best Picture winner.
When asked about the bizarre moment, Trump described the ABC host as lacking in talent and intellect. “Look, Jimmy Kimmel is every night, he hits me, I guess. His ratings are terrible. He’s not a talented guy. I hear he hits me all the time. So I figured I’d hit him because I thought he was a lousy host,” Trump said.
“And now the big story is that they all begged him not to do it. ‘Don’t do it,’ and he probably stupidly, you know, he had to act in a short period of time, like minutes, right? He had minutes because he’s on air. He sees this thing, and he wants to go out there, and he wants to, I guess, confront me in a cell,” the former president went on to say. “And he ends up reading my truth.”
Upon hearing that Kimmel read his TruthSocial post on the air, Trump stated that “this guy is even dumber than I thought.”
“It’s been all over the world now, and all he had to do is keep his mouth shut.”
While the Academy Awards saw a slight increase in viewership this year, the end result was still underwhelming considering the number of advantages the show enjoyed. Despite two wildly successful blockbusters in “Oppenheimer” and “Barbie,” as well as an early start time, the show’s ratings increased only slightly.
In total, the show drew a little more than 19 million viewers, an increase of four percent over last year. In 1998, which featured “Titanic” as Best Picture winner, the show was watched by a whopping 57 million viewers. Even in 2014, the show still managed to pull in 43 million viewers.
