WATCH: Trump Mocks Biden’s Frequent Teleprompter Mishaps In Hilarious Speech
While speaking with Republican donors in St. Paul, Minnesota on Friday, former President Donald Trump expressed confidence that he could become the first Republican to win statewide since 2006.
The former president was rattling off the jokes from the moment he began his 80-minute speech. Immediately after the former president took the stage, a teleprompter positioned at the back of the venue fell down.
“How about that? Before I get up, the teleprompter fell down. That’s great. Great going, fellas, back there,” Trump joked. “Then they want to know why I didn’t pay the bill. You know, I get a lot of heat. I got a teleprompter that’s gone. This one’s almost gone. But we’ve been there before.”
The presumptive Republican nominee then took aim at President Biden’s frequent mishaps involving teleprompter. Biden has repeatedly read every word off of his teleprompter, including things like “end of quote.”
“Supposing that happened to Biden. You know what happens? He go like this; bye!” Trump said before idling around the podium. “He’d leave! I’ll stay here for an hour, we’ll have some fun.”
“On Day One we’ll throw out Bidennomics and we will reinstate MAGAnomics,” Trump said. “We will stop the Biden stupid spending spree, we will end his inflation death spiral.”
At one point in his remarks, Trump ripped Biden’s frequent insistence that the economy is in “good shape” despite months of polling data saying that American citizens do not feel the same way. “But Americans are not struggling,” he said before again commenting on the construction of the stage.
“You know, this is the worst platform Who put this stage up? It is the worst the freaking place is falling down. I noticed it keeps tilting further left Like too many other things,” Trump remarked, drawing laughs. ” Like too many other things What a crappy contractor this was.”
The former president has been attending a number of donor meetings in recent weeks as he tries to catch up with President Biden’s major fundraising lead. While donations for the Trump campaign have ticked up since the Republican primary wrapped up, the Biden campaign has sought to take advantage of its early start.
According to FEC records, 35 percent of Biden’s 2024 re-election campaign donations have come from big donors, or contributions greater than $2,000. Just 38 percent of the president’s current campaign donations have come from small donors, or contributions valued between $1 and $200.
As for the Trump campaign, 61 percent of campaign funds have come from small donors while just nine percent have come from big donors. Between 2020 and 2024, President Biden’s total donations from big donors have increased by 10 percentage points, while the former president’s numbers have decreased by the same margin.
