Trump To Appear On WWE Legend’s Podcast

One of professional wrestling’s biggest superstars is getting set to rumble with former President Donald Trump in an upcoming episode of his weekly podcast.

Mark Calaway, known professionally as The Undertaker, has remained an enduring figure in pop culture for decades from his time at the top of the WWE food chain. After a long career wrestling alongside other household names like The Rock and John Cena, Calaway retired in 2020 and two years later was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Today he commands nearly 600,000 YouTube subscribers to his podcast “Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway” which will soon host Trump in an upcoming episode, according to Politico’s Alex Isenstadt.

The former president’s push to win over the “bro” vote hinges on his ability to break through the pop culture noise and reach young men who lean conservative but may not be reliable voters. Calaway’s program is fertile ground of that audience, one that is almost homogenous in WWE’s arena shows. Trump’s appearance comes after he made a similar one on “IMPAULSIVE,” the podcast hosted by millennial fighter Logan Paul. That hourlong episode drew 4.75 million views and afforded President Trump the opportunity he enjoys most: open-ended prompts that let him freewheel in his answers and conversation. Paul often laughed while Trump excoriated his prosecutions over the summer, lambasted President Joe Biden for his poor debate performance, and spoke candidly about his own family’s struggle with addiction, a topic where many young men can relate.

Others in the world of wrestling have made known their intention to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris. Dave Bautista, the former WWE wrestler and Marvel actor, ripped Trump in a recent interview as the opposite of machismo. “He’s a little whiny b****,” the anti-Trump actor said in a parody video on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Wednesday night. Kimmel prompted the answer by noting that “young, straight White men love Donald Trump” because they see him as a “macho, macho man,” Fox News reported. Kevin Nash, another icon of wrestling, has endorsed Harris and running mate Tim Walz.

The biggest name of all wrestlers, however, has sided with Trump. Hulk Hogan famously warmed up an audience of thousands at the Republican National Convention in July shortly before President Trump took the stage. Speaking with NPR afterward, Hogan said the crowd’s “vibe was so intense, the energy was so crazy, it felt like maybe I was gonna press that no-good stinky giant over my head and slam him into the mat, brother.” President Trump has frequently appeared at — and even participated in — wrestling bouts, said WWE owners Vince and Linda McMahon. Trump “became part of some of the most compelling and highest-rated storylines in the company’s history,” they added.
