Trump Trolls ‘Governor’ Justin Trudeau In Hilarious Post: ‘Great State Of Canada’

President-elect Donald Trump has taken another vicious swipe at Justin Trudeau, teasing the Canadian prime minister about his weak bargaining position against a second Trump administration.

In a post on Truth Social, the Republican mockingly thanked the liberal Trudeau for recently meeting with him at Mar-a-Lago and reportedly discussing the two countries’ trade agreements and border securitization methods. The meeting came after Trudeau called an “emergency meeting” with his Cabinet in response to President-elect Trump promising to rein in Canada’s tariffs on U.S. goods while threatening to absorb Trudeau’s country into his if certain demands weren’t met. He echoed that threat on Tuesday. “It was a pleasure to have dinner the other night with Governor Justin Trudeau of the Great State of Canada. I look forward to seeing the Governor again soon so that we may continue our in depth talks on Tariffs and Trade, the results of which will be truly spectacular for all!” read the post, which was signed by “DJT.”

Asked by NBC News for comment about the midnight post, Trump spokesman Steven Cheung replied only, “It’s so good.” Trudeau’s office did not immediately provide a comment. The salvo comes after the two North American leaders sat down at Trump’s Florida residence for a dinner where the president-elect reportedly threatened to impose a 25% tariff on all Canadian goods over Trudeau’s failure to curb illegal immigration and the flow of fentanyl into the U.S. Sources say Trump became quite animated while discussing the U.S. trade deficit with Canada, which he estimated to be more than $100 billion.

Fox News reported that Trudeau told Trump that such a tariff would “kill” the Canadian economy, and Trump asked him why Canada should remain an independent nation if it needed to “rip off” the U.S. to stay afloat. He then suggested Canada could become the 51st state and Trudeau its governor, a quip which caused Trudeau and others to laugh nervously, according to those present. Trump continued, speculating that Canada would be a very liberal state. He then reportedly suggested carving Canada into two states, one conservative and the other liberal.

“We’re subsidizing Canada to the tune over $100 billion a year. We’re subsidizing Mexico for almost $300 billion. We shouldn’t be — why are we subsidizing these countries? If we’re going to subsidize them, let them become a state,” he said Sunday on “Meet the Press”.

President-elect Trump’s latest post prompted laughter and scorn for Trudeau across the internet on Tuesday, with some of the best reactions compiled by the Gateway Pundit. “Donald Trump just called Justin Trudeau the “Governor of the Great State of Canada,” laughed Tiffany Fong. Conservative reporter Nick Sortor applauded Trump’s “late night trolling.”

Ian Miles Cheong concocted a parody Renaissance-style painting of Trump and Trudeau, while others declared Trump the “troll king” of the internet. “I just love how Trump shows absolutely ZERO respect to Trudeau,” replied another user.
