Donald Trump has secured a victory in the North Dakota Republican presidential caucuses on Monday, continuing his succession of triumphs ahead of Super Tuesday.

With 99% of votes counted, Trump secured a commanding 84.6% of the vote, which allowed him to gain all 29 delegates. Nikki Haley trailed significantly with 14.1% of the vote, amounting to 273 votes. The race was officially called by The Associated Press.

According to North Dakota’s primary guidelines, candidates must secure at least 20% of the vote to be considered for delegates. A candidate who achieves a minimum of 60% of the vote is awarded all 29 of the state’s delegates.

The win places Trump back on track following a brief setback on Sunday when Haley clinched her campaign’s inaugural win in the District of Columbia primary.

Super Tuesday is a significant event in the presidential primary process, primarily due to the large number of delegates that are up for grabs on this single day. The outcome can greatly influence the momentum of the candidates’ campaigns.

A strong performance on Super Tuesday can provide a candidate with substantial momentum and can shape the perception of inevitability around their candidacy.

16 states and one territory will conduct their primary elections today. Both Trump and Joe Biden have positioned themselves to clinch their respective nominations later in the month.
