Trump’s Crime Crackdown Delivers Jaw-Dropping Results In Notorious Blue City

Memphis has seen a sharp drop in crime as a federal, state and local law enforcement surge ordered by President Donald Trump marks its first year in operation.

The Memphis Safe Task Force has made more than 12,000 arrests and seized more than 2,100 illegal firearms since launching in September 2025, according to figures cited by the White House.

The administration is pointing to those numbers alongside steep year-over-year declines in several major crime categories across the city.

“President Trump’s Memphis Safe Task Force has driven down violent crime in a city that was failed by extreme Democrats’ soft-on-crime policies. The Task Force has made more than 12,000 arrests, including of murderers, sex offenders, drug traffickers and other violent criminals, and has seized more than 2,100 illegal firearms. President Trump restored law and order and made Memphis safe again,” White House spokesperson Lauren Bis told Fox News Digital.

The task force was created after Trump signed a presidential memorandum directing federal agencies to coordinate with Tennessee and Memphis officials in an aggressive push against violent crime.

The operation brought together federal, state and local law enforcement personnel, along with National Guard support.

Memphis entered the crackdown with one of the worst violent-crime problems in the country. The White House cited FBI data showing the city had the nation’s highest violent-crime rate per capita in 2024.

Since then, the numbers have moved sharply downward.

Senator Marsha Blackburn laid out the Memphis Safe Task Force results:

→ 1,400+ known gang members apprehended

Overall crime is down 36% year over year, according to data cited by Fox News Digital.

Motor vehicle thefts have fallen 57%, robberies are down 43%, murders have dropped 44% and aggravated assaults are down 27%.

Burglaries have declined 27%, while shoplifting is down 44%.

The trend was already underway in 2025, when overall crime in Memphis fell 28% compared with the previous year.

The task force has also generated a long list of prosecutions involving violent crime, drugs and firearms.

Memphis resident Darian Glover was convicted in August of distributing fentanyl that caused three fatal overdoses. One victim believed he was purchasing cocaine, but the substance tested positive for fentanyl.

In another case, Courtney Trenell was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for serving as a getaway driver in two bank robberies and participating in a conspiracy targeting six Memphis-area banks.

The U.S. Marshals Service reported in August that the task force had already surpassed 11,500 arrests, including arrests tied to homicide, drug offenses, firearms violations and sex offenses.

Federal authorities also said more than 1,200 known gang members had been arrested by that point.

Memphis had been battling years of elevated violence before the federal intervention.

Justice Department data cited in the report showed homicides climbed to 397 in 2023, up from 301 the year before.

The city then finished 2025 with a substantially lower homicide total as crime continued falling into 2026.

The administration has used Memphis as a model for its broader strategy of deploying federal resources into cities struggling with persistent violent crime.

Similar enforcement operations have also been launched in Washington, D.C., where federal officials have reported declines in several major crime categories.

While multiple factors can influence crime trends, the Memphis operation has produced thousands of arrests, thousands of gun seizures and a steep drop in several offenses during its first year.
