Trump’s Promise Of “Retribution” Throws CNN Host Into Full-Blown Panic

On Monday, CNN reporter, John Avlon, discussed the intense speech made by President Donald Trump regarding his 2024 campaign, in which Trump declared as “retribution” during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) held in this weekend.

Trump’s speech at the event lasted for over an hour and a half. He criticized several Republicans, including Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, over their stance on the Ukraine war.

Avlon said, “The fact that Donald Trump ran away with the poll. The fact that he’s leading with that message of retribution — we need to keep our eye on that ball.”

Avlon continued, “It is very easy to treat Trump as a sideshow because if you look at his posts on Truth Social, if you look at that rambling, 145-minute lie-filled speech, you’d say this is someone who is not well, and yet, we need to concede he’s, right now, the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, and the more crowded the primary is, the more likely he is to win.”

Avlon kept referencing Trump’s CPAC speech. On Saturday, Trump repeated his message of support for fellow American citizens, saying “In 2016, I declared, ‘I am your voice.’ Today I add: I am your warrior, I am your justice, and for those who have been wronged and betrayed, I am your retribution.”

“I think we need to be wide-eyed about that right now,” Avlon said.

Attendees at the 2023 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) conducted a straw poll for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. Former President Donald Trump won with 62% support, followed by Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida with 20%. Participants were divided on who should be Trump’s running mate in 2024.

Less than 40% of respondents expected President Joe Biden to be the Democratic nominee, with 21% believing Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom of California would be the Dem pick. The poll also revealed that almost three-fourths of respondents felt threatened because of their beliefs, and a plurality (45%) felt that House Republicans should force Democrats and President Biden to negotiate over the debt ceiling.
