TV Star Dead At 37 From Apparent Suicide
The Bravo community is reeling after the tragic loss of Matthew Byars, a celebrated talent manager and occasional presence on The Real Housewives of Potomac (RHOP). Known for his charisma and professional prowess, Byars passed away at the age of 37, leaving colleagues and fans in shock.
Byars first captured public attention during RHOP’s third season in 2018. Introduced as a confidant and business associate of cast member Karen Huger, he quickly became a familiar face to fans of the show. Huger, reflecting on their long-standing connection, described him as someone who brought vibrancy and authenticity to every interaction.
Byars made his debut on RHOP in the third season in 2018, appearing with Huger. Speaking to Bravo’s The Daily Dish, Huger described their collaboration, saying, “We work together.” She praised Byars, referring to him as a “powerful young man” and clarified his role, “Matt is not my PR, but I would say that Matt is … my agent, my booking person, and it works for me.”
Huger continued, “I met some dynamic people through this powerful young man, who’s extremely connected. And my personality and his connections just work so well, and I’m blessed to have Matt in my life.”

News of his passing was confirmed on Thursday, with the Maryland Chief Medical Examiner’s Office ruling the cause of death as suicide by multiple blunt force injuries. The manner of his death has left many of his peers and fans grappling with shock and grief. A spokesperson revealed to The U.S. Sun, “He died of multiple blunt force injuries. The manner is suicide.”
Tributes have poured in from Bravo stars, highlighting Byars’ impact within the entertainment industry. Former RHOP cast member Charrisse Jackson-Jordan posted a heartfelt photo, captioned simply, “Rest in Peace.”
Melissa Gorga of The Real Housewives of New Jersey shared her sorrow on social media, recalling his humor and “infectious” energy. “Matt- Why didn’t you tell me Matt? I’m heartbroken. Your personality was infectious. Your jokes- you always had them.”
“You should have done stand up- I know it was your dream. My heart hurts Matt . Because earlier this week you didn’t tell me,” Gorga wrote. “I wish I could have saved you. Thank you for the memories.”
