Two Trump supporters who were badly injured when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire at the former president during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania have had their conditions updated to “stable” after initially being listed as “critical” on Saturday night.

David Dutch, 57, of New Kensington, PA and James Copenhaver, 74, of Moon Township, Pennsylvania were identified as the two victims who were listed in “critical” condition, according to a statement from the Pennsylvania State Police. Both men are now in “stable” condition at Pittsburgh area hospitals.

CNN reported that Mr. Dutch required two surgeries for two gunshot wounds in his liver and chest.

One innocent rally attendee was shot and killed when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire from a rooftop located roughly 130 yards from the former president’s podium. The deceased victim has been identified as Corey Comperatore, a retired firefighter and father of two who died while shielding his wife and daughter from gunfire.

Comperatore’s daughter, Allyson, also paid tribute to her father in a touching Facebook post. “He was the best dad a girl could ever ask for. My sister and I never needed for anything. You call, he would answer, and he would do whatever it is you needed, and if he didn’t know you, he would figure out how,” she wrote.

“The media will not tell you that he died a real-life super hero. They are not going to tell you how quickly he threw my mom and I to the ground. They are not going to tell you that he shielded my body from the bullet that came for us. And I want nothing more than to cry on him and tell him thank you.”

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro described Corey Comperatore as a hero and ordered all commonwealth and American flags in Pennsylvania to be flown at half-staff in order to honor his memory.

Last night was shocking for this community and for this commonwealth, and I know for this country. Political disagreements can never, ever be addressed through violence. Disagreements are okay, but we need to use a peaceful political process to settle those differences,” Shapiro told reporters.

The exact number of injured victims remains unclear at this time. Crooks was able to squeeze off no more than 10 shots at the former president before he was neutralized by Secret Service snipers, who engaged the gunman almost immediately after shots rang out.

It has been reported that a local police officer attempted to approach the gunman, who responded by pointing his rifle at the officer. It is believed that the officer’s efforts forced the gunman to rush his shot.

U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) told Fox News that his nephew was grazed by a bullet in his neck and is currently recovering.
