SHOCK VIDEO: Ukrainian Council Member Detonates Three Grenades During Budget Meeting
A village council member in western Ukraine detonated three hand grenades during a meeting Friday, resulting in critical injuries to himself and at least two dozen meeting attendees.
A video uploaded to social media shows the man entering the meeting entering a room where the village council of Keretsky was meeting to discuss the community’s budget, The man then nonchalantly pulled a grenade out of his hand before pulling the pin, repeating the process two more times while throwing the explosives around the room.
According to a report from the BBC, the man has been identified as Serhii Batryn, a council member who belongs to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Servant of the People party.
Regional police reported that 26 people were injured in the attack, six of them critically. Batryn suffered grave injuries and paramedics scrambled to save his life, police said.
The motive of the attack and whether it relates to the ongoing war in Ukraine is unknown as of this report.
