Van Jones Predicts Biden Cover-Up Will Hurt Democrats In Future Elections
Former Obama White House official and CNN contributor Van Jones predicted that the Democratic Party’s decision to initially nominate Biden for a second term will hurt the party electorally in the near future.
“You were on the record in 2022 voicing concerns about Biden’s age and ability. Whom do you blame for the decision of him to run for re-election and the decision to hide his declining abilities as much as they were able to?” former Obama advisor David Axelrod was first asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper, who recently published a book on the coverup of Biden’s mental decline despite participating in it himself.
“Well look at the at the top and you to blame him, because he made the decision. But he was—and your book reflects this in many different ways — he was shielded by a coterie of advisers and his family. They were in this confirmation bubble. And they shielded—they tried to shield the world from his decline, and they tried to shield him from his own standing and his polling numbers and so on,” Axelrod responded.
“And so at the end of the day, I have to point the finger at the people around him who didn’t do him a service by encouraging him to continue. I think it was obvious to the public. It may not have been obvious to a lot of politicians. I actually think it was, but it wasn’t politically wise in their judgment to speak out.”
Axelrod went on to argue that Biden’s cognitive decline was on display before the disastrous debate with President Trump last June before ultimately placing blame on his advisors.
Tapper then turned to Jones, who was emotional after last year’s debate and said he “loved” Joe Biden. “Do you feel like you were duped, Van? Like, how do you feel?” Tapper asked.
Jones responded with praise for Tapper’s book before describing the coverup of Biden’s decline as an “emperor’s new clothes” situation.
“Everybody knew, but everyone was afraid to say, except for David Axelrod for two years, that something was wrong here. And so, you know, I was shocked. I love Joe Biden. I don’t like him. I love him,” he said.
“I got a chance to work with him when I was a part of the Obama administration and loved him more every day. I was shocked to see his condition when he came out, and so was the world, and that wasn’t the first time he was in that condition. The book makes it very very clear there are people who knew and said nothing.”
Jones concluded by describing the cover-up as a “crime against the Republic,” adding “I think the Democrats are going to pay for a long time for being a part of what is now being revealed to be a massive cover-up.”
