WATCH: Barriers Seen Going Up Around The White House
Construction crews could be seen building large barriers around the White House and the Treasury Building on Friday night, sparking intrigue on social media.
Footage obtained by on-the-ground reporter Charles Downs shows barricades similar to those assembled on certain occasions during the Biden presidency positioned around the White House and the Treasury Building. Former President Biden had fences — which were often topped with razor wire — around key federal buildings ahead of controversial decisions or planned protests.
Downs noted that several groups had planned protests against President Trump’s decision to strike Iran’s nuclear sites on Saturday. Organizers for the hastily-planned protests announced that they had been cancelled due to the Trump-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Iran, however.
“Zohran Mamdani voters, linked to Soros-aligned groups, were set to take buses from New York City to Washington, D.C., for an anti-Trump, pro-Iran/Hamas protest. However, they canceled at the last minute,” Downs reported. “This is likely why the fencing around the Treasury Department and White House has been opened to the public.
“Despite the cancellation, these Zohran supporters claim they will return to D.C. to protest on the 4th of July. Either way, it’s shaping up to be an interesting week.”

Several groups, including the Democratic Socialists of America, Code Pink and the Palestinian Youth Movement had indeed scheduled protests for Saturday, June 28.
“After Trump and Netanyahu launched an illegal and unprovoked war against Iran, mounting pressure against another endless war forced Trump to halt his aggression. At dawn on Tuesday, a ceasefire was reached, and the Trump-Netanyahu war against Iran was curtailed,” the groups and fellow coalition partners announced in a press release.
Pro-Palestine protests in Washington D.C. have turned violent on numerous occasions. A massive group of pro-Palestine supporters surrounded the White House last July and proceeded to set off flares and smoke bombs inside the complex.
Protesters chanted “ceasefire now” and accused the Biden Administration of being complicit in genocide in what has become a common occurrence since the October 7 attacks. Protesters have stormed the White House complex on a handful of occasions since the attacks, at times clashing with police and knocking down exterior gates.
