WATCH: Bill Maher Fears He Will Be Sent To Guantanamo Bay If Trump Is Re-Elected In 2024

HBO’s Real Time host, Bill Maher, expressed his fear that he will be thrown into Guantanamo Bay if Trump wins the 2024 election.

Maher, a longtime anti-Trump media figure within leftwing circles, said he’s terrified of the former president “on a very personal level.”

“I am afraid of Trump on a very personal level because I don’t think he likes me. I understand why. And I don’t know what he would do in a second term,” Maher told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Tuesday. Following Trump’s successful 2016 bid for president, the comedian and political satirist said he “was afraid for my own wellbeing. I thought I could wind up in Guantánamo Bay. I think I still could.”

Maher went on to bemoan just how often the former president would call him names. “He’s obsessed sometimes. I don’t know. He went on a tear for about eight months when he was president. Every time he’d have a rally, I have a list three pages long of the things he’s called me.”

In February, on a Truth Social post, former President Trump ripped into Maher, calling him “wacky liddle’ Bill Maher,” and claiming the comedian has “bad ratings.”

“So Ratings Challenged, FAKE NEWS CNN, which just had their lowest & worst numbers in History, wants to give wacky liddle’ Bill Maher a shot at bringing them back to just normal “bad” when Bill Maher suffers from the same affliction as CNN — BAD RATINGS,” Trump wrote.

“How’s that for television ‘programming?’ Actually, there’s only one person that can save CNN — he’s done it for 6 years — ‘TRUMP,’ but he’s not available, he’s going to WIN the Presidency for the THIRD time, & save our Country from going to HELL!”

In his CNN interview, Maher suggested Trump will become a tyrannical leader that “you have to worry [about] when you see what other authoritarian rulers do in other countries to people.”

“I’m not thinking he’s gonna become Putin and start pushing people out windows, but I’m not going to live on the 30th floor anywhere either,” he added.
