WATCH: Bill Maher Suggests ‘The View’ Should Be Taken Off The Air

“Real Time” host Bill Maher told his fellow Democrats that they need to “do something” about ABC’s “The View” if the party wants to be taken seriously.

Maher was speaking in reference to “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg’s most recent controversial comments, in which she compared being a black American to the experience of a woman living in Iran. Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin pushed back by pointing to the oppressive human rights abuses women endure in the theocratic nation, including imprisonment if they fail to adhere to strict Islamic dress codes.

“Let’s not do that, because if we start with that, we have been known in this country to tie gay folks to the car. Listen, I’m sorry, they used to just keep hanging Black people,” Goldberg ranted.

Goldberg’s statement, the HBO host argued, represents the type of far-left rhetoric that is costing Democrats elections and compared the comments to the party’s embrace of radical gender ideology.

U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-TX) agreed, noting that his success as a black congressman directly contradicts “The View” host’s statement. “My district in the great state of Texas is actually a white majority district that President Trump would have won by 25 points. As I said, I’m a direct descendant of a slave, my great-great-grandfather, who was born on Rosedown Plantation. I am literally being judged not by the color of my skin but by the content of my character,” he explained.

“That’s the progress because — like a lot of white people had to vote for me — a lot,” the congressman added. “So I don’t ever want to hear Whoopi Goldberg’s conversation about how it’s worse to be black in America right now.”

Maher, Hunt and other critics of the all-female ABC talk show may soon get their wish, as Disney executives have reportedly become fed up with the show’s frequent controversies in recent months.

According to a report from The Daily Beast citing multiple sources within Disney, both Iger and ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic recently suggested that the daytime talk show hosts should be less hostile when it comes to political issues. The recommendation appears to have been discarded, however.

The long-running show’s current lineup features Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar, all three of whom have a history of making inflammatory statements about President Trump, his supporters, white people, Christians and dozens of other identity groups they seemingly harbor deep hatred for.

“Karamehmedovic convened a meeting with The View‘s executive producer Brian Teta and its hosts, and suggested the panel needed to broaden its conversations beyond its predominant focus on politics,” The Daily Beast reported.
