WATCH: CNN Anchor Loses It After Cory Mills Suggests Trump Attack Could Have Been ‘Setup’

Three days ago, a startling attempt was made on the life of former President Donald Trump. Amid the ongoing investigation, with authorities still piecing together motives and details, the incident has mixed not only widespread concern but also deep-rooted suspicions.

Snipers were reportedly positioned within the building the shooter had ascended, a detail provided by insiders. Eyewitnesses from the event mentioned spotting the gunman atop a neighboring building before chaos unfolded. Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) voiced his thoughts on the matter during a CNN interview, suggesting the potential of a setup—a stance that CNN didn’t seem to like.

Rep. Mills, a former U.S. Army member and a respected figure in military operations, explained, “I look at all of these things and I look at different videos where an assailant will pull a firearm on a law enforcement officer and the first thing they do is they immediately pull and draw and mitigate the threat and the risk.” Rep. Mills slammed the security setup, describing the adjacent building—mere yards from the stage—as “a sniper’s paradise.”

“The amount of negligence, the amount of mistakes that were made here, I have a very difficult time not leaning myself towards this was intentional as opposed to fecklessness,” he confessed, a statement that visibly agitated CNN anchor Kate Bolduan.

“Dial it back, but do not blame this on Joe Biden!” Bolduan said.

Rep. Mills finished, “I have not made an accusation of something. I just want to make sure we’re covering our bases to ensure that we get a proper investigation at all levels to ensure this doesn’t happen again and that our president can be safe.”

On Tuesday the FBI launched an investigation into a local officer who reportedly confronted Trump’s would-be assassin, only to turn around and run for cover after the young man pointed his rifle in their direction. Fox News reported on the probe which centers on a member of local law enforcement staffing the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

According to multiple media reports, an officer climbed a ladder to the adjacent rooftop where Crooks was positioned. After Crooks turned to point his AR-15 rifle at the officer, they descended the ladder and backed away from the building. He ultimately fired eight rounds from over 400 feet away, nicking Trump’s right ear before being shot and killed by a Secret Service sniper rifleman.

Sources close to the investigation told Fox News that there is “great frustration” among local officers about their indecisive colleague who may have been able to prevent a shooting that started literally seconds later. Butler County Sheriff Michael Slupe previously told a local media outlet that the responding officer ducked for cover and did not engage Crooks with his own service weapon. “The officer had both hands up on the roof to get up onto the roof, [and] never made it because the shooter had turned towards the officer, and rightfully and smart fully, the officer let go,” he told KDKA-TV.

Video from the perimeter of the rally showed multiple attendees drawing attention to Crooks as he crawled for a better vantage point. His lifeless body was also captured on camera, and a shot of his face postmortem was circulated on X in the immediate aftermath.
