WATCH: CNN Data Expert Makes Host Seethe With Stunning New Poll On Deportations

As the crackdown on illegal immigration across the U.S. takes shape, more and more Americans are indicating that they are happy with the mass deportations being implemented by President Donald Trump.

Those sentiments materialized in a new poll presented by CNN data analyst Harry Enten, who broke down the numbers that made his co-host seethe about the speed at which voters are changing their minds on the direction of the country.

Eight years ago, Enten said, “the Democrats held an eleven-point advantage over Republicans” on the issue of immigration. In 2017, Trump was bogged down by criticisms that his family separation policy was forcing children into cages in detention centers.

“Look at where they are now, though. A poll out last week after Donald Trump took office… look at the margin Republicans are putting up here! A twenty-two point lead over Democrats,” Enten exclaimed. “You rarely see issues in which the American people side so much with one party over the other.”

The 33-point swing underscores the importance of immigration in propelling Trump back to the White House. As promised, he unleashed a flurry of mass deportations in sanctuary cities like Chicago on his first day in office, and U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement have reported over 500 apprehensions of violent criminals per day; by Sunday, that single-day number had exceeded 900.

“It just gives the Republicans a lot more leverage,” Enten observed.

When host Kate Bolduan pressed Enten about how that figure translates into greater support for Trump over Biden, the data analyst was ready with a startling presentation on the growth in Americans who now believe the U.S. is headed in the right direction with respect to immigration.

Last month, “just fourteen percent of Americans thought we were on the right tracker, according to Ipsos [and] Reuters,” he said.

Today, that figure has climbed by 23 points to 37%. At the same time, the number of Americans who believe the country’s immigration policy is headed down the wrong track has fallen to 42% from 62% a month prior.

“Still slightly more Americans saying we’re on the wrong track than the right track, but the right track number has gone through the roof,” Enten added.

“The bottom line is this: Many more Americans are saying that the country is on the right track than the wrong track. They’re liking a lot more what we’re doing on immigration than just a month ago in the Biden administration. They’re liking a lot more what Republicans and what Donald Trump are doing than what Joe Biden and the Democrats were doing.”

When asked to rate President Trump’s performance on immigration, a decisive 46% plurality of voters approve while 39% do not. “You don’t have to be a mathematical genius to know that forty-six is bigger than thirty-nine,” joked the analyst.

“Simply put, immigration is an issue that Donald Trump and the Republicans are going to go to the well over and over and over again because Americans are much more on their side than they are on the Democrats’ side.”

Raids in major sanctuary cities like Chicago and Boston have been greeted with enthusiasm by members of communities that criminal illegal immigrants have terrorized for years. White House border czar Tom Homan is so confident in his position that he has threatened to arrest local and state leaders if they harbor illegal immigrants or attempt to make their apprehension by federal authorities more difficult.

On Friday, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security granted ICE officials permission to review the parole status of migrants who entered the U.S. under a series of expanded humanitarian asylum programs during the Biden-Harris administration. The new memo also encourages ICE officials to “consider, in exercising your enforcement discretion, whether to apply expedited removal” to immigrants who may qualify but are omitted currently.
