WATCH: CNN Host Visibly Disturbed After GOP Rep. Suggests ‘Squad’ Democrat Should Be Deported

Freshman Congressman Brandon Gill (R-TX) is taking a hard stance against Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) after a video surfaced showing her advising illegal Somali migrants on how to avoid deportation. The Texas Republican did not mince words, stating that “America would be a better place” if Omar were deported back to Somalia.

The controversy erupted after footage emerged of Omar hosting workshops in her Minneapolis district, where she instructed illegal Somali immigrants on how to avoid detection by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). During a CNN interview with Pamela Brown on Thursday, Gill defended his position, asserting that Omar’s actions were “as un-American as you can possibly get.”

“My colleague Ilhan Omar, she is an American citizen. She is a member of the House of Representatives. I didn’t call for her to be deported, but I did say that America would be better off were she deported,” Gill explained.

“I think that there is a serious problem, particularly given after the past four years of open borders, of Democrats facilitating the invasion of our country by illegal aliens.”

Omar’s workshops, which took place in the heart of her district, reportedly included detailed instructions on how illegal immigrants could avoid interactions with ICE. In the video, Omar can be seen telling undocumented individuals that they are not obligated to answer questions about their immigration status and should remain silent if confronted by federal agents.

“You are not obligated to answer their questions. Just state that you are advised by a lawyer not to answer questions,” Omar advised in the video. “Disclosure of your name, immigration status, and the mode of entry is not mandatory.”

Gill did not hold back in condemning her actions, saying, “My colleague Ilhan Omar was advising illegal alien Somalis on how to evade ICE detection. That is as un-American as you can possibly get. It’s unbecoming of a congressperson.”

Pressed by CNN’s Pamela Brown on his comments, Gill maintained that his stance is backed by evidence. “We have the audio of her doing that,” he said. “She has a duty to uphold the values and customs of America, not to represent foreign illegal aliens who shouldn’t be here to begin with.”

Gill’s criticism was echoed by many, including billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, who weighed in on the controversy. “She is breaking the law. Literally. Outright,” Musk wrote on X (formerly Twitter), amplifying the growing calls for accountability.

A spokesperson for Gill’s office issued a follow-up statement condemning Omar’s actions, stating, “Representative Omar’s conduct raises questions about to whom she is most loyal – the American people or illegal aliens from Somalia. Representative Gill simply stated that it is disgraceful for a sitting Congresswoman and U.S. citizen to facilitate the invasion of our country by illegal alien Somalis.”

Omar, for her part, has dismissed the criticism, arguing that she is simply educating individuals about their legal rights. During her CNN interview, Brown pushed back against Gill, saying, “She is helping people understand what the laws are.”

Gill, a first-term Republican from Texas’ 26th Congressional District, has quickly emerged as an outspoken voice against illegal immigration.

The controversy surrounding Omar is just the latest in a long string of controversies she has faced. The Minnesota Democrat has repeatedly come under fire for her stance on immigration, her past comments about law enforcement, and her anti-Israel rhetoric.
