WATCH: Crowd Erupts After Trump Says ‘Drill Baby Drill’ In Response To Question About Inflation
Former President Donald Trump received an overwhelmingly positive response from the crowd after saying “drill baby drill” in response to a question about inflation at CNN’s New Hampshire town hall event.
“Over the past two years we have seen the prices of everything skyrocket. From food to gas to utilities and insurance costs, many people’s bills are up several hundred dollars a month, including mine. If elected president again, what is the first thing you would do to help bring the costs to help make things more affordable?” Trump was asked by a potential New Hampshire voter.
“Drill baby drill!” Trump immediately responded, drawing a thunderous round of applause and cheers.
“We were energy independent, we were soon going to be energy dominant. Nobody had ever done what I did,” the former president stated.
The former president then took shots at the current officeholder’s energy policies, comparing costs under the current administration to the previous one.
“We have more liquid gold under our feet than any other nation, any other nation,” he went on to say. “And these stupid fools, ended it. And energy went from $1.87 and even lower for gasoline, for a car to five, six, seven, eight even nine dollars. And your electricity bills went through the roof, your heating bills went through the roof, and that’s what started inflation, and it hasn’t stopped.”
The crowd again erupted into applause when Trump touted his administration’s tax cuts and deregulation, before adding that it was all undone when “we were given a gift from China,” referring to the COVID-19 pandemic.
