Dem Governor Issues Surprising Praise Of Trump’s Border Policies

During Friday’s edition of Fox News’ “Special Report,” Maryland Governor Wes Moore turned heads by praising President Donald Trump for his border security policies.

“I know that we all know the solution is you’ve got to be able to secure the border, you have to be able to work to get violent criminals out of our neighborhoods,” Moore, whose name has been floated as a presidential candidate in 2028, told host Bret Baier.

“And you give credit to the Trump administration for the securing of the border, right?” Baier followed up. “Oh, yeah. And — but I think what we have is we need to make sure that we understand and are following the Constitution on it. We have watched a securing of a border, which becomes incredibly important,” the governor answered.

Moore did couch his answer by repeating a number of Democrat concerns about the administration’s mass deportation efforts, however.

“But the thing that I also know is that this idea that we need quotas or arbitrary numbers, 3,000 people who are going to be deported every single day, that’s not a data-backed number. And, frankly, that’s not going after violent criminals. Who it’s going after is people like who I’ve spoken to on the Eastern Shore who are saying that they now have workers who are chicken workers who are now not showing up for work or the person who has an employee from Ecuador who’s a single father and a child with special needs who is now recently deported,” he said.

The White House has repeatedly stressed that it will be working to deport all illegal aliens from the United States, starting with those who have serious criminal records. A number of raids have targeted businesses that employ illegals, however, which is expected to continue in the coming weeks thanks to massive budget increases for immigration enforcement as part of the Big Beautiful Bill.

As part of the bill, which was signed into law on July 4, ICE funding is set to increase from $2 billion to more than $70 billion. This includes an additional $45 billion to increase detention space, while $30 billion will be earmarked to hire more immigration agents. Both of these increases are expected to supercharge the federal government’s capacity for interior deportations.

Last week, White House border czar Tom Homan told reporters that the administration is scaling up for a goal of 7,000 interior deportations a day. “And for those that say 3,000 a day is too much, I want to remind them, do the math, we have to arrest 7,000 every single day for the remainder of this administration just to catch the ones Biden released into the nation,” he said.
