WATCH: DeSantis Unloads on Democrats for Treating Children Like “Guinea Pigs for Science Experiments”
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis responded to the growing debate surrounding childhood sex changes, firing back at liberals and their ideology. He has drawn a comparison between the “transition” surgeries being performed on children and the treatment of guinea pigs
While recognizing ‘detransitioner’ Chloe Cole for her bravery, DeSantis said, “It’s sad that we have to say this, but our children are not guinea pigs for science experimentation and we cannot allow people to make money off mutilating them. Chloe Cole is now a young adult, but she was receiving puberty blockers at age 13 and she underwent a double mastectomy at age 16.”
“She’s now an advocate against allowing these procedures for our children. Chloe, thank you for your bravery and the people of Florida and the legislature should heed your advice and provide protections against these procedures.”
Chloe Cole is an American activist who started her transition at the age of 12 and underwent treatment, which involved puberty blockers, testosterone, and a double mastectomy, but later de-transitioned at the age of 17. Cole first gained public attention in March 2021, after testifying in front of the South Dakota legislature in support of a bill that would ban gender-affirming healthcare for minors.
She has been vocal about her own experiences with gender transition and detransition, and has stated that she believes she was not old enough to make such life-altering decisions at the time. Cole has been criticized by some members of the LGBTQ+ community for her advocacy work, with some accusing her of being used as a tool by conservative politicians to push anti-trans legislation.
In addition to her advocacy work, Cole is a student at a college in Texas.
