New York City Mayor Eric Adams faced a heated confrontation on a flight departing Miami, Florida when a pro-Palestinian protester accused him of neglecting city issues while focusing on police funding.

The incident which took place aboard a commercial airplane as passengers were boarding, saw the protester loudly berating the mayor for several failures in his administration. The protester’s tirade touched on a range of issues from homelessness to public education funding in New York City.

“Yeah, f*ck you! They’re homeless people all over New York… you don’t actually care about the citizens of New York,” the protester shouted as she recorded in the mayor’s face.

“Why are you in Miami? You know there are people being arrested there, people are homeless in New York, people cannot afford food,” she continued.

“You keep cutting the education budget so you can fund the police. That’s all you care about, funding the police. Everything is underfunded because of you!” she shouted.

Mayor Adams listened to the protester’s complaints but did not engage verbally with her during the outburst. New York City has faced a large amount of backlash in recent months due to the migrant crisis.

The berating also unfolded as tensions have escalated across the U.S., with pro-Palestinian protests that initially rocked New York-area colleges now spreading nationwide. The demonstrations and the ensuing arrests of participants have expanded from coast to coast in recent days.  Students at over a dozen schools have started protests and encampments. They demand an end to the Israel-Hamas conflict and urge their universities to divest from companies that profit from the war or have ties with Israel.
