Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative icon Charlie Kirk and new CEO of Turning Point USA, moved an entire crowd of 70,000 plus to tears during a captivating speech in which she preached a message of faith and forgiveness, even towards the murderer.

Kirk described the moments following her husband’s murder, when she first traveled to the Utah trauma center where Charlie was taken after he was shot in the neck by a high-powered rifle on September 10. “I saw the wound that ended his life, felt everything you would expect to feel. I felt shock. I felt horror and a level of heartache that I didn’t even know existed. But there was something else too. Even in death, I could see the man that I love,” she said.

Erika went on to describe that even in death, she saw what appeared to be a faint smile on her husband’s lips. “And that told me something important. It revealed to me a great mercy from God in this tragedy. I saw that. It told me Charlie didn’t suffer,” Kirk continued.

“Even the doctor told me. It was something so instant that even, even if Charlie had been shot in the operating room itself, nothing could have been done. There was no pain, there was no fear, no agony. One moment Charlie was doing what he loved, arguing and debating on campus. Fighting for the gospel in front of a big crowd, and then he blinked and saw his savior in paradise, and all the heavenly mysteries were revealed to him.”

She went on to note that in the aftermath of Charlie’s murder, the country was not gripped by rioting and violence, causing the crowd to erupt in cheers and applause. “We didn’t see revolution. Instead, we saw what my husband always prayed that he’d see in this country. We saw revival,” Kirk said.

In a stunning moment, Kirk said that her husband was “ready to die” before explaining what she meant. “There was nothing he was putting off,” Kirk told the crowd. “There was nothing that was too hard or too painful. … Charlie died with incomplete work, but nothing that was unfinished business,” she said to roaring applause.

The most powerful moment of Erika’s speech came when she spoke to her husband’s mission, which was a desire to spread the gospel, encourage young Americans to start families, and bring young men closer to Jesus Christ.

“He wanted to save young men — just like the one who took his life,” Erika said while tearing up. She then paused, looked upwards and said, “I forgive him.”

The powerful statement received a standing ovation and brought the entire crowd of 70,000+ to tears. Crowd shots could not find a single dry eye in the arena as attendees rose to their feet.

Kirk went on to vow that Turning Point USA will add thousands of chapters, that Turning Point Faith will add new congregations, and that campus debates and speaking events will continue unabated before exiting the stage with a another deafening standing ovation.
