WATCH: GOP Senator Praises SCOTUS For Dropping ‘Bunker Buster’ On Activist Judges

Senator Ashley Moody (R-FL) likened the Supreme Court’s definitive smackdown of activist judges to President Trump’s strikes on Iranian nuclear targets, describing the landmark decision as the equivalent of a “bunker buster” being dropped on judicial tyranny.

In a 6-3 ruling handed down on Friday, the nation’s highest court determined that federal district judges do not have the ability to issue injunctions that block federal policies nationwide. Between the president’s two terms, federal judges have issued more than 80 injunctions against a wide range of the president’s policies, 25 of which have come in the first few months of his second term.

For comparison, just 59 nationwide injunctions had been issued against all other presidents since 1953.

Injunctions issued by federal judges range from sweeping restrictions over the president’s ability to control immigration policy, to staffing decisions and control over federal grants.

While speaking with Fox News, Senator Ashley Moody (R-FL) praised the landmark ruling as a massive win for U.S. sovereignty that gives Trump “the ability to enact the policies that the voters elected him on.”

She was then asked about previous statements from Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dick Durbin (D-IN), who suggested Trump was “flooding the zone with executive orders and changes” as if this is not consistent with executive power.

“What the court did, what the Supreme Court did is unleash a bunker buster on judicial tyranny. I mean, the first two months of the Trump administration, more universal injunctions were issued than the entire four years under Biden. And by the way, this has always been a bipartisan issue,” Moody said.

“There was never a universal injunction until 1963. They have skyrocketed since then. And even the Supreme Court said it’s gotten so bad, we have to address this issue. Remember, Sotomayor even said, this is a problem. This is really going to drag out the ability of an administration to do anything. And so, you know, they can say all they want on the other side of the aisle. They know this is a problem.”

The senator went on to note that she has introduced legislation to codify Friday’s decision and thoroughly protect the separation of powers. Rep. Darrell Issa (D-CA) has introduced companion legislation in the House.

“But make no mistake, this is a win for America. It is a win for this country. And it will go on to make sure that we can continue to exist as the strong, successful, prosperous nation living under a rule of law as we have for almost 250 years,” Moody said.
