WATCH: GOP Senator Goes Scorched Earth On Dems After Ambush Attack On ICE Facility

Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) is calling for Democrat lawmakers to be “held accountable” over intense anti-ICE rhetoric following multiple ambush-style attacks on federal immigration officers in recent days.

The senator joined Fox News to discuss rising violence against ICE and other federal law enforcement agencies just hours after the Department of Justice announced charges against 11 individuals in connection with a highly coordinated, ambush-style attack on an ICE facility in North Texas.

Host Dana Perino pointed out that there has been a massive increase in attacks on federal law enforcement officers when compared with this time last year, jumping from 10 to 79, an increase of 690 percent. “How do you see it?” Perino asked the senator.

Well, Dana, it’s not surprising. When you have the Democrats that are out there constantly villainizing the ICE agents, actually leading the charge towards obstruction and getting in their way and not treating them with respect as true law enforcement. This is going to continue to happen,” Mullin replied.

“And the most damning thing about this, Dana, is this absolutely silence from the Democrat Party. If this was any other time, you’d have every Democrat out there saying that we need gun control, and that’d be the first place they ran to. Now they’re not saying a word about it. At the same time, President Trump is trying to install law and order back in these blue states, in these blue cities, where these criminals are running rampant.”

Mullin then pointed to the July Fourth attack on a Texas ICE facility, when a group of far-left extremists armed with rifles set off fireworks and sprayed graffiti outside the facility in an effort to draw federal agents outside so they could kill them. Local police responded to the scene after reports of an individual armed with a firearm, and were immediately met with gunfire from a militant positioned in a wooded area outside the facility.

One officer was shot in the neck and is recovering. Police arrested 11 individuals in connection with the attack, ten of whom are facing charges of attempted murder. When police conducted searches of properties belong to the arrested individuals, they uncovered masks, goggles, tactical gloves, more body armor, a cache of nine additional weapons, spray paint, fireworks, and two-way radios.

The acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas described the assault as a “planned ambush” with the intent to kill federal immigration agents.

There is no question Dana that this was organized. When you have individuals with the tactical gear that they had, when you have jammers that are on site, you have an ambush that is truly set up the way that it was. This was, as you said, this is not a peaceful demonstration,” Mullin said.

This was a planned attack, and the Democrats should be held responsible that have been villainizing the ICE agents for the last what, three months, four months?”

Democrat lawmakers have indeed been spewing hyperbolic rhetoric against ICE agents that could potentially embolden extremists. During the recent “No Kings Day” protests, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) compared President Trump’s deportation strategy to Nazi Germany, while Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) has repeatedly referred to ICE as a “fascist” agency.

“You’ve got a situation where our base is demanding more and more of us every day,” one unnamed House Democrat told Axios on the condition of anonymity. The lawmaker added that “a number of us have been told by constituents that we have to be willing to get shot” while trying to enter ICE facilities and “be able to make news out of it.”

Democrat lawmakers have also been attempting to enter ICE facilities unannounced in order to conduct “inspections,” which they claim is part of their congressional duties. In one instance, Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) and a handful of other Democrat lawmakers stormed an ICE facility in Newark, at which point McIver allegedly shoved and elbowed federal agents, body-cam footage from the scene shows.

Rep. McIver is currently facing criminal charges as a result of the incident.
