WATCH: GOP Senators Give Trump A Birthday Cake, 45 Makes A Wish

Amidst the marble halls of the U.S. Capitol, laughter and applause filled the air as GOP senators presented former President Donald Trump with a birthday cake, celebrating a day ahead of his 78th birthday. Trump, who visited Capitol Hill for the first time since January 6, 2021, appeared jovial and lighthearted during the gathering.

The surprise came during a meeting with Republican lawmakers where campaign strategies for the upcoming November elections were discussed.

As Trump approached the cake, decorated with candles numbered “45” and “47,” he couldn’t resist making a joke about needing a knife to make his wish, hinting at the ambitions encapsulated in the candle numbers—a nod to his past presidency and a hint at another potential term.

“He wants a new driver,” one of the Senators joked. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) revealed to Newsweek that the cake was chocolate.

As Trump blew out the candles, the room filled with cheers and good spirits, showcasing a unified front among the Republicans present.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden was at the G7 summit in Italy, engaging in talks with Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Both Biden and Trump are preparing for a CNN debate later this month, setting the stage for their upcoming electoral rematch in November.
