WATCH: Ilhan Omar Reads WWII As ‘World War Eleven’ In Baffling Gaffe
Rep. Ilhan Omar got dragged online this week after a resurfaced clip showed the Minnesota Democrat mixing up World War II with “World War Eleven” while reading prepared remarks.
In the Jan. 22, 2025, video, Omar stood alongside other congressional Democrats urging repeal of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, a wartime-era law President Donald Trump had invoked to speed deportations of suspected Venezuelan gang members in the U.S. illegally, according to the report.
But as Omar read her statement, she stumbled into a headline-ready gaffe.
“The last time the Alien Enemies Act was invoked, it was used to detain and deport German, Japanese, Italian immigrants during World War Eleven,” the far-left “Squad” congresswoman declared, reading from prepared remarks.
Omar immediately caught it and corrected herself, laughing as she did.
“Oh … two … sorry,” she said, chuckling.
The clip ricocheted across social media, where critics piled on and questioned how a sitting member of Congress could botch a basic historical reference, even in a quick slip.
President Trump has previously taken aim at Omar’s intelligence, calling her “Low IQ Ilhan Omar” in a Truth Social post earlier this year, and users echoed that theme as the video spread.

“I can’t believe this dummy is in Congress,” read an X post from Libs of TikTok, which shared the clip.
MAGA influencer Sarah Sizzle added, “She learned history at the Quality Learing Center,” a jab referencing the misspelled sign connected to a Minnesota day care case that became part of a broader fraud scandal.
Others said the moment was so bizarre they assumed it was fake.
“Was this for real? I thought it might be AI,” conservative columnist Ed Morrissey posted.

Another user responded with an AI-generated mock New York Times front page blaming Trump for starting “World War Eleven.”
The moment also revived broader criticism of Omar’s profile and the national attention she draws, with commenters calling the slip emblematic of what they see as unserious politics in Washington.
“This is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the stupidist generation of politicians the world has witnessed,” one X user wrote.
Omar’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment, according to the report.
