WATCH: Jane’s Addiction Lead Singer Punches Guitarist Onstage, Abruptly Ends Concert
Members of the rock band Jane’s Addiction were involved in a physical fight during a concert in Boston Friday night.
Footage from the crowd shows lead singer Perry Farrell throwing a punch at lead guitarist Dave Navarro during the middle of the band’s set. Farrell, 65, could be seen aggressively lunging towards Navarro, 57, in the viral clip. At that point, Navarro appeared to push back on the longtime frontman in an apparent effort to get him to stop.
Farrell eventually threw a punch at his longtime bandmate. Security guards then rushed the stage and told Farrell to stop as they attempted to separate the two. Security personnel could be seen holding Farrell down as they took control of the situation.

Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau, later provided additional details about the altercation in a social media post.
“Rather than speculating, I thought to post a first person account of what happened on stage with Jane’s Addiction last night at the Lender Pavilion in Boston,” Lau wrote on her Instagram page.
“Clearly there had been a lot of tension and animosity between the members.. the magic that made the band so dynamic. Well, the dynamite was lit. Perry got up in Dave’s face and body checked him,” she explained.
Lau further explained that Farrell has been dealing with health issues in recent weeks, leading to a bad mood and lack of patience. “Perry’s frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band. Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night,” the post continued.
Ultimately, Lau credited founding band member and bassist Eric Avery with “winning” the fight.
“Eric walked up to Perry, upstage, in the dark… put Perry in a headlock and punched him in the stomach three times. Kevin, crewmember with long hair… pulled Eric away. Then Eric, nonchalant, walked off to the front of the stage to apologize to [the] audience for the show [ending] early.”
“Well, [that] is my first person account narrative of what happened. Take a look at the video yourself,” Lau concluded.
