At a reception hosted by A1 Policy, a think tank aimed at shaping conservative agendas, Vice President-elect JD Vance shared a personal and humorous anecdote from the campaign trail, showcasing his signature blend of relatability and rhetoric. The event, attended by influential figures in politics and media, took a lighter turn as Vance recounted a story involving his four-year-old son and a German Shepherd puppy aboard Trump Force Two.

“You know, I keep asking what my favorite day on the campaign trail was of all time,” Vance began, “was the day my four-year-old walked into the back of the plane and told the media they were all fake news.”

The remark, met with laughter and applause, showing the Ohio senator’s alignment with former President Donald Trump’s stance toward the press. Vance further amused the crowd by describing how, shortly after his son’s declaration, the family’s German Shepherd puppy had a less-than-diplomatic encounter near the press area of the plane.

“I think that speaks to how we think of the fake news and this movement,” Vance joked, drawing a mix of laughter and knowing nods from attendees.

The Vice President-elect’s comments come as he and President-elect Trump prepare for their January 20 inauguration, marking a new chapter in American politics. Vance has been actively contacting senators to assess their backing for former Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL), whom Trump has nominated for the attorney general position.

Gaetz, who stepped down from the House shortly after President-elect Trump revealed his selection last Thursday, has been personally reaching out to senators as well. According to a source quoted by ABC News, Vance’s efforts show his anticipated role as Trump’s “eyes and ears” in Congress.
