Jesse Watters took a victory lap against his co-host on “The Five” Monday, mercilessly trolling anti-Trumper Jessica Tarlov following the U.S. Supreme Court’s unanimous ruling that former President Donald Trump cannot be booted from the 2024 ballot for being an “insurrectionist,” as lower courts and Democratic secretaries of state have claimed.
With a smirk almost as bright as his studio lights, Watters kicked the mockery into high gear as he chronicled the failed predictions by Tarlov and other legal pundits who he said gave viewers “false hope” that President Trump would somehow be denied a path to the Republican nomination and a showdown with President Joe Biden in November.
“You know you look at your phone in the morning and you see nine-zero and you can’t wait to sit next to Jessica, and we’re here and we’re sitting next to Jessica and we can all just bask in the glory of the Supreme Court’s decision,” he said as a colleague laughed. “You can get into the weeds and talk about the lady caucus. I’d rather just look at nine nothing.”
“I’m shocked,” Tarlov said.
“So many people on television – and I would never go this – gave the country false hope, and these people went to law school. I proudly did not go to law school, but even I could read the 14th Amendment and it was clear to even me – just a bachelor’s degree from Trinity College, a safety school – that this was not going to go the way the Democrats thought it was going to go,” he joked.

“These people, they call them judicial pundits at the networks and on cable, came out strongly saying that this case had a shot. And now the same people… are saying ‘we always knew this was going to be a unanimous decision.’ They’re lying to you.”
As the various trials have racked up against Trump, Watters and Tarlov have frequently tangled over the merits of each.
Following a landmark ruling against Trump in New York, Tarlov said the former president should be prosecuted for “sexually assaulting women” and “storing classified documents in the toilet.” That prompted Watters to declare her off the mark while they were discussing the New York real estate case brought by Democratic Attorney General Letitia James.
“With respect, Jessica, you know nothing about real estate valuations, real estate development, or the IRS, or getting loans from big banks to develop skylines in New York City,” he started.
“Donald Trump did more for New York City than a thousand Letitia Jameses,” listing her numerous political crusades against others like former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and the National Rifle Association while ignoring the plight of city residents and allowing the Manhattan district attorney to prosecute bodega owners who defend themselves against criminals.
In early February, Tarlov flew into a rage over the E. Jean Carroll ruling against Trump.
“My thoughts are that you shouldn’t sexually assault people and then you shouldn’t defame them,” she shot back at Watters when he asked for her thoughts.
The back-and-forth sparked a heated discussion over whether President Trump was actually found guilty of rape, with Gutfeld and fellow co-host Judge Jeanine Pirro emphasizing that a civil finding does not equate to a guilty verdict.
“Yes, he was! He was by a jury,” Tarlov shouted. “Oh it’s a civil, that means it doesn’t count?”
Keeping things light, Gutfeld pivoted.
“It’s always nice to bring something up that has nothing to do with the topic,” he laughed.
“It does! He said the campaign strategy…” Tarlov started before Jesse Watters raised his finger and told her to “stop interrupting everybody.”
