WATCH: Joe Biden Jokes When Asked About Nashville Shooting; Says He Has “No Idea” If Christians Were Targeted
President Joe Biden made a controversial joke about the motive of the transgender Nashville school shooter when speaking to reporters Tuesday.
Biden was asked for a comment on remarks made by U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) that suggested the shooter was targeting Christians in the Monday shooting. “Sir, do you believe that Christians were targeted at the Nashville shooting,” a reporter asked.
“I have no idea,” the president replied. “Josh Hawley believes they were. What do you say to that?” the reporter pressed.
“Well, I probably don’t then,” the president responded with a smirk.
“No, I’m joking. I have no idea,” Biden added, seemingly mocking the idea that Christians were targeted in the horrific school shooting.

After the Monday shooting, where six people died from a mass shooting, Sen. Hawley called for a federal investigation into the incident. Hawley called the attack “targeted.”
“We should be clear about what happened in Nashville. Police say the shooting was ‘targeted.’ That makes it a federal hate crime – against Christian children and teachers. Targeting victims on the basis of religious affiliation is a hate crime. It should be investigated as such,” the Missouri Republican said.
“All federal resources necessary should be brought to bear. And those individuals or groups who have spread a message of hate against the Christian community – which resulted here in horrific violence – should be held to account.”
“If it is determined that the shooting was indeed a hate crime, it would fall under federal jurisdiction, and the federal government may provide additional resources and support to local law enforcement agencies in the investigation. This can have implications for how the shooting is investigated and prosecuted,” Trending Politics previously reported.

Following the fatal shooting of three Muslim men in August 2022, Biden made much more serious comments, equating the attack to a hare crime. “I am angered and saddened. While we await a full investigation, my prayers are with the victims’ families, and my administration stands strongly with the Muslim community,” the Democrat president said in a tweet.
I am angered and saddened by the horrific killings of four Muslim men in Albuquerque. While we await a full investigation, my prayers are with the victims’ families, and my Administration stands strongly with the Muslim community.
These hateful attacks have no place in America.
