WATCH: KJP Makes Terrible Speaking Mistake After Tragedy In Midwest
In Thursday’s press briefing following the tragic events at Perry High School, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre made a significant verbal misstep.
While addressing the situation, Jean-Pierre initially remarked, “Unfortunately, there is no longer an active threat to the school,” before swiftly correcting herself to say, “I should say fortunately, not unfortunately.”
The school shooting resulted in three injuries, including two students and an administrator. Law enforcement officials confirmed that the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
WATCH:
Multiple patients are receiving treatment at Iowa Methodist Medical Center and MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center, as confirmed by the Polk County Medical Coordination Center. Additionally, all families of the victims have been reunited, according to their statement.
Thursday marked the beginning of the second semester for the Perry Community School District following the winter break, a day that has been marred.
Our hearts are broken by this senseless tragedy. Our prayers are with the students, teachers & families of the Perry Community.
I have been in contact with law enforcement agencies & am continuing to monitor the situation. I will be joining their press conference today.
