WATCH: Maxine Waters Gets Door Slammed In Her Face After Attempting To Enter ICE Facility
U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) attempted to enter a federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, only to have the door promptly slammed in her face.
Waters was among several Democrat lawmakers who traveled to the protests — which later devolved into violent riots — in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday. The far-left congressman could be seen shouting at California National Guard troops, who had been deployed under the direction of President Donald Trump in order to protect federal property from the mob.
“Why do you have guns? What are you going to do, you going to shoot some kid who’s afraid of you and runs?” Waters shouted at National Guardsmen who were standing guard outside.
“You going to shoot an elected official? If you shoot me, you better shoot straight. I don’t know why you’re in my city. The governor was not contacted. This is Trump, and his outrageous attempt to not only target our sanctuary city but to frighten us and intimidate us. This is wrong, and I hope that none of you will use those guns to shoot anybody. There’s no reason to shoot anybody.”
While speaking with reporters, Waters echoed the bizarre claims advanced by California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass by blaming President Trump for the unrest.
“He’s going to try to goad us so that he has a martial law. This is not just about deportation. This is about how they’re going to treat people of color in America, and this is how he’s going to get to have martial law because he wants to goad us into a fight,” the congresswoman rambled. “They have all the guns!”
Waters eventually made her way to the front door of the federal building, where she claimed she wanted to check on the status of a prominent organized labor leader who was arrested for attempting to interfere with immigration enforcement operations.
David Huerta, president of the California branch of the Service Employees International Union, faces a felony charge of conspiracy to impede an officer, prosecutors announced. Huerta was arrested on Friday after he and other agitators allegedly tried to halt the service of a search warrant at 2415 E. 15th St. in downtown Los Angeles by forming picket lines on public sidewalks to prevent officers from entering.
“Hello, hello, hello. Congresswoman Waters. I just came to use my congressional authority to check on David,” Waters told federal agents and National Guardsman at the entrance to the building. “We have a lobby secure right now to all visitors,” the congresswoman was immediately informed by one of the guards.
“Excuse me, I need to get in,” Waters shot back while attempting to enter the open door. She was then told to contact ICE’s public office before the door was slammed in her face.

Democrat lawmakers have been attempting to enter ICE detention facilities, unannounced, in order to “inspect” them as part of what they claim are their congressional duties.
U.S. Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) was recently arrested after she and a number of her House colleagues stormed past the perimeter of an ICE facility in Newark and attempted to gain entry. Footage from the scene shows McIver shoving and punching federal agents as Newark Mayor Ray Baraka was being arrested for trespassing.
