Democratic California Congresswoman Maxine Waters recently went on a four-minute screed about how much she can’t stand President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. A rally was held by Democratic Party lawmakers to protest Musk being given access to the Treasury Department.

During her rant, Waters accused Musk of overstepping his boundaries without being given consent by the electorate.

“We have got to tell Elon Musk that nobody elected your ass. Nobody told you you could get all of our private information. Nobody told you you could be in charge of the payments of this country,” Waters said.

The California Democrat then accused the billionaire owner of social media platform X of trying to monopolize the earnings of regular American citizens in order to get funding for his space exploration programs.

“We have told you that you’ve made enough money off our government yourself, and now you want to take everybody else’s payroll and make sure that they don’t make the kind of money that you’ve made. Oh, you want to use our money to go to Mars,” Waters continued.

Following that statement, Waters complained about the president, stating that he, along with other billionaires, are trying to place themselves in positions that will enable them to stay on top of the nation’s political and economic spheres.

“We’re in a crisis in this country because Trump and Elon Musk and the billionaires have decided they’re going to put us all in our place. They’re going to run this country. They’re going to make sure that they take over everything,” Waters said.

“Are we going to let them do that? Are we going to let them run this government in the way that they can make even more money and so they won’t stop? It is so brazen every day, they’re taking new actions. They’re taking executive actions. Every day, they’re doing something,” her rant continued.

Waters then told the crowd, “Let me just tell you now, I have Elon Musk’s major office in my district.”

On Tuesday, Treasury Department members stated that federal spending would continue without interruption and that they were dedicated to ensuring the integrity of the national payments system. The statement was released in response to the scrutiny DOGE faced after being granted access to the treasury system.

Officials within the department have announced a review to help improve the accuracy of payments to government entities and the general public.

“Treasury has no higher obligation than managing the government’s finances on behalf of the American people, and its payments system is critical to that process,” Jonathan Blum, a legislative affairs official at the Treasury Department, said.
