WATCH: Mika Brzezinski And Joe Scarborough Get Into Shouting Match: ‘Trouble In Paradise’

The married “Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski got into an intense, on-air shouting match over the ongoing government shutdown fight during Wednesday morning’s broadcast.

The shouting match occurred after Brzezinski asked why Democrats — the majority of whom voted not to fund the government in the U.S. Senate — are being blamed for the ongoing shutdown. “I also just don’t understand why we’re blaming the Democrats for Republicans lying at the highest level of office. They have the biggest megaphone. They have TV networks that repeat the lies and say things on those networks with no consequence. And the things they say are violent,” Brzezinski ranted.

“OK, so they’re not only repeating the lies, but adding to this coarseness. And there’s no consequence to it. And we’re blaming the Democrats. We’re blaming the Democrats for this. What exactly are the Democrats supposed to do?”

A visibly annoyed Scarborough then chimed in with, “You keep repeating, they’re supposed to fight back!”

Scarborough then began shouting about how former President Bill Clinton “used and abused Republicans during every government shutdown” and called on Democrats to do the same. “We’re not blaming Democrats for Republicans lies. We’re saying the Democrats at some point have to figure out how to answer those lies. And that’s not whining,” Scarborough yelled as the back-and-forth continued.

Senate Democrats — which the exception of three caucus members — have on three occasions voted not to adopt the House-passed temporary funding measure that would keep the government funded through late November. Democrats are demanding an additional $1.5 trillion in additional spending over the next few weeks, as well as the extension of Obama-era Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits that are set to expire.

Republicans and the White House have pushed back by accusing the other side of advocating for taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal aliens. Vice President JD Vance has pointed to multiple Biden-era programs that allowed healthcare benefits for illegal aliens, all of which were done away with in the Trum-backed Big Beautiful Bill earlier this year.
