WATCH: Nancy Mace Reveals CNN Panelist’s Salacious Texts To Her Mid-Hearing

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) took aim at a CNN panelist during a Congressional hearing on Thursday, unveiling personal text messages sent to her by a political commentator and Vanderbilt professor.

Professor Michael Eric Dyson had previously criticized Mace on-air for mispronouncing Vice President Kamala Harris’ name, labeling her a “white supremacist” in the process. But according to Mace, Dyson’s private messages told a different story. During the August CNN appearance, the exchange between Mace and Dyson became heated over her pronunciation of Kamala Harris’ name, with Dyson accusing Mace of intentionally disrespecting the vice president.

On Thursday, Mace revealed that after the segment, Dyson sent her flirtatious texts. She went as far as to read the messages into the Congressional record, highlighting the hypocrisy of his public accusations versus his private behavior. “I would like to enter into the record a screenshot of a text message I received from the esteemed professor from Vanderbilt, Michael Eric Dyson,” Mace began. “After my CNN interview, he begged me for photos in this text. He says after calling me racist on CNN, ‘Don’t tell anybody we look good together,’ and sent me a kissy emoji.”

The chamber was stunned, as Mace continued to recount Dyson’s comments. According to Mace, Dyson’s messages praised her appearance, saying she looked “gorgeous” in the photos, all while publicly blasting her as a racist for mispronouncing Harris’ name. “If we’re going to hold this standard, you’ve got to hold it to both sides, not just one or the other,” Mace said in her remarks.

She then reiterated that Dyson’s on-air behavior was in stark contrast to the messages he sent her privately, noting the irony in his critique. Dyson has appeared on numerous news outlets including CNN as a prominent voice on racial and social issues. Mace, no stranger to controversy herself, has been a vocal critic of media bias, particularly when it comes to conservative figures.

In a heated exchange on CNN this past August, Rep. Mace found herself mispronouncing Vice President Kamala Harris’ name during a panel discussion. This sparked immediate backlash from Professor of African American Studies Michael Eric Dyson and Democratic strategist Keith Boykin, who accused Mace of disrespecting the Vice President.

“We’ll talk about Kamala’s, Kamala’s, uh,” Mace said.

“You had it right, you almost got it!” said Boykin

“I will say Kamala’s name anyway that I want to!” Mace assured.

“No, but you mispronounced her and you also misjudged her,” Dyson said.
