WATCH: NASCAR Stars FISTFIGHT After Contentious Race

Two of NASCAR’s top drivers took their beef off the blacktop over the weekend after an unfortunate crash early on in the 2024 NASCAR All-Star Race.

Kyle Busch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr., ranked #13 and #26 respectively, got into a viral fistfight after colliding during the second lap of 200 at the North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina, according to the Western Journal. While #17 Joey Logano walked away with the grand prize of $1 million, Busch and Stenhouse may end up losing money on the race after accumulating fines for their behavior.

The bad blood began after Busch’s No. 8 Lenovo ran wide on the first turn, pushing Stenhouse Jr. in the No. 47 Kroger’s Chevrolet three-wide, splitting Busch’s car and the No. 34 of Michael McDowell. Busch hit the wall, but a close inspection of the clip shows that Stenhouse’s car didn’t actually come into contact with Busch, a two-time Cup Series champion. While it can be disputed whether Busch took the appropriate racing line on the wider Speedway track, what’s indisputable is what happened next.

At the start of lap two, Busch intentionally rammed Stenhouse’s car from behind, pushing him into the wall and out of the race for good.

Shortly after the race, Stenhouse intentionally parked in Busch’s pit, causing the two-time champion to aggressively approach him outside of the car. A heated argument followed which was mostly inaudible amid the roar of engines and the crowd, but Stenhouse clearly took a swing at Busch after the exchange of words.

The camera stays trained on Stenhouse, who appears to continually deny touching Busch’s car during the first lap. It appears Busch said he didn’t believe his rival, causing Stenhouse to swing for Busch’s face. A melee ensues as event and pit crew staff jump in to separate the drivers before the fight embroils them too.

NASCAR spoke with Logano while playing footage of the fight from another angle.

“We came here and tested and ran over 800 laps at the tire test,” Logano said after the race, according to USA Today. “I wish this one counted for points, but a million bucks will work as well.”

Following a similar incident between Bubba Wallace and Kyle Larson in 2023, NASCAR increased its financial penalties against drivers and their crews for off-track altercations. Physical confrontation with a NASCAR official, media members, or fans can now cost drivers between $50,000 and $100,000 and suspension(s), indefinite suspension, or member revocation, according to Racing News.
