WATCH: Packed Auditorium Unanimously Backs Vance For 2028 Run
Vice President JD Vance received a near unanimous nod of approval when the crowd at Megyn Kelly’s live show in Fort Worth, Texas was asked about their presidential preferences in 2028.
As part of her ongoing tour for the “Megyn Kelly Show,” the titular host was joined by several prominent conservative thought leaders, including Glenn Beck and veteran journalist Mark Halperin, among several others.
At one point during the discussion, which was released as a podcast episode on Friday, the group discussed Vice President Vance’s viability as a presidential candidate, arguing that his freedom from internal GOP rivals makes him nearly unbeatable in a primary. “Trump gets asked this question, he says, yeah JD, yes, or Marco. He always throws Marco in there, who we love. But is there realistically any way that Marco gets it over JD?” Kelly said.
At that point, Halperin conducted an impromptu survey on the state of the race. “I’m going to ask you all to vote by show of hands. If you’re uncomfortable voting in front of the others, you can close your eyes as you vote. Raise your hand if you’d like JD Vance to be the nominee,” he said, at which point the packed Dickies Arena erupted into cheers and a sea of hands.
He then asked attendees to raise their hands if they would like someone else. “Okay, next to no one, right?” Halperin noted after only a small number of hands went up.
“So there’s never been, just as there’s never been a field as formless and as weak as the Democrats, at least in my career, there’s never been a situation like this. Incumbent vice president, Bush 41, Reagan’s vice president. Not only did Reagan not endorse him until after the nomination fight was over, but literally at the endorsement event, you can go watch it on YouTube on C -SPAN. he called him, I’m here to endorse my vice president, ‘George Bosch.’ So he mispronounced his name,” the veteran political analyst continued.
“Clinton made his life miserable. When Biden was vice president, Obama said, ‘sorry, I’m endorsing Hillary.’ We’ve never had an incumbent vice president with the full support to do all the things he does. Overseas trips, domestic trips, political operation, finance chair of the Republican national committee.”
“He doesn’t have an enemy I can find…I don't see anyone's thinking they could beat him in a primary…”

Vice President Vance has held a commanding polling lead in 2028 surveys as President Trump’s second term moves towards the one-year mark. According to the RealClearPolitics polling average, Vance currently leads the field of hypothetical by a whopping 36.7 percentage points.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who unsuccessfully launched a White House bid in 2024, comes in second with just 10.3 percent, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio trails just behind with 9.3 percent.
Rubio appeared to suggest that he will be backing Vance’s campaign for president while speaking with Fox News back in July. “Well I think J.D. Vance would be a great nominee. And if, you know, if he decides he wants to do that. And so, you know, I think he’s doing a great job as vice president. He’s a close friend and I hope he intends to do it,” he said.
