WATCH: Pelosi Snaps At Reporter Over Jan 6 Question: ‘Shut Up’
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) lost her composure on the steps of the Capitol Wednesday, snapping at a conservative reporter for asking about a new investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021 riots and her culpability for them.
The Democrat still holds considerable sway over House Democrats, who she led following the 2020 elections. It was Pelosi who in the aftermath helped convene a Democratic-led committee which largely placed blame for J6 on President Donald Trump, helped in part by former GOP Congressmen Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL).
But the bipartisan veneer of the select committee has since worn off, and House Republicans have resurrected the probe with a new focus on evidence they allege was slanted against Trump from the beginning, including the allegation that he refused to send in the National Guard despite pleas from members of his administration.
Leading GOP figures like House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight Chairman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) have pointed to Pelosi’s admission in unreleased footage where she claims “I take responsibility” for the riots.
But when challenged on that premise Wednesday, the longtime congresswoman sent a fiery salvo back at Alison Steinberg, a correspondent with the TV network owned by MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell.
“Are you worried that the new January 6th committee will find you liable for that day?” Steinberg first asks in a testy interaction that has since gone viral.
Pelosi’s bodyguards attempt to shield her from the conservative scribe who, undaunted, pressed further.
“Why did you refuse the National Guard on January 6th?”
“Shut up!” Pelosi screams back, pointing a finger in her face.
“I didn’t refuse the National Guard, the president didn’t send it. Why are you coming here with Republican talking points as if you’re a serious journalist?”

Pelosi’s comments come more than a year after Rep. Loudermilk first revealed that Pelosi took responsibility for security failures around the Capitol as Congress convened to certify the results of the 2020 election.
“As Nancy Pelosi was being evacuated from the Capitol on January 6, 2021 she admitted that, as Speaker of the House, she was responsible for the security failures, and for not having the National Guard at the Capitol,” said Chairman Loudermilk in a statement.
Alexandra Pelosi, the Democrat’s daughter and a documentary filmmaker, turned over footage last year from a forthcoming documentary where her mother acknowledges she could have done more to prevent violent that occurred on the grounds of the Capitol. The admission was the first time that Pelosi has reflected on her own shortcomings rather than placing the blame on Trump.
