WATCH: Travis Kelce Could Barely Stand While Attempting Drunken Garth Brooks Cover At Chiefs Parade
Kansas City Chiefs tight-end Travis Kelce got very, very drunk while celebrating his third Super Bowl ring with the team on Thursday.
A viral video from the team’s championship parade shows the moment Kelce attempted to lead fans in a rendition of Garth Brooks’ “Friends In Low Places.”
“If you know this song, sing along,” Kelce told the crowd before stumbling through the song. The future NFL Hall of Fame member — who was seen chugging beers out of the Lombardi Trophy along the parade route — was heavily slurring his words and could barely stand by the time he got to the stage.
When he could no longer continue, he turned to quarterback Pat Mahomes, who helped him out and finished the song.
The Chiefs’ third Super Bowl championship parade in less than a decade was tragically overshadowed by a shootout that erupted along the parade route. At least one person is confirmed dead while an additional 22 were wounded when gunfire erupted outside Kansas City’s Union station shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
At least three people are in custody in connection with the shooting, Kansas City law enforcement officials said during a press conference on Wednesday evening. A motive for the shooting has not yet been reported, though early reports have hinted at gang-related violence.
Dramatic video from the scene captured the moment Chiefs fans rushed to tackle one of the suspected gunmen. “We tackled him. When we tackled him, the gun came out,” one of the onlookers could be heard saying after the alleged shooter was detained by police.
Details surrounding the shooting are still emerging as of Wednesday evening.
