WATCH: Trump Blasts Classic James Brown Hit In His Golf Cart: ‘Pretty Cool, Right?’
The haters are not getting to former President Donald Trump, judging by a candid video taking during a golf outing that shows the Republican rocking out to the likes of Luciano Pavarotti and James Brown.
A staffer captured the moment highlighting Trump’s eclectic taste for the operatic and soulful as he tells the young man about the song playing from his iPad.
“‘It’s A Man’s World’ with Pavarotti.’ You ever hear this one?” Trump asks the aide, who says he hasn’t.
The president then schools his young friend to the 2002 performance in London where Pavarotti, the iconic tenor, croons with Brown during a 2022 performance in London backed by a full orchestra. Their live rendition of the classic 1966 hit sounds just as good 20 years on.
The links have been a consistent source of relaxation for President Trump, so it’s no surprise that he carries a personal soundtrack around with him via golf cart. He took nearly 300 opportunities to hit the green during his presidency, a passion that enraged his critics but kept the leader of the free world calm and collected.
In addition to golf, President Trump has found his wife Melania and their son Baron to be a constant source of solace while his four criminal trials and fifth civil trial wind their way through the courts. Aides have credited the former first lady with keeping her man “calm and focused” amid a “hellish” period. She is, one person said, his “secret weapon” for surviving the onslaught.
“Friends whisper these last few weeks have been hard on Trump, and although he always presents a tough front, these constant legal assaults are affecting his day-to-day life,” said one source close to the power couple. “Melania’s even better than his regular golf games at keeping his temper in check. She provides a peaceful life for him when he needs it.”
As part of their daily routine, Melania insists that Trump sits for breakfast with her and their young son Barron. She frowns at using phones at the table and regularly schedules time to sit with Trump and watch TV together sans cable news.
A happy home life, good music, and fresh air on the golf course may be President Trump’s winning formula for next year.
