WATCH: Trump Pulls ‘Power Move’ On Putin Ahead Of Historic Meeting
In a video that’s now being passed around social media, President Donald Trump flexed the military might of the United States just as he met Russian President Vladimir Putin on the tarmac in Alaska. The pair is scheduled to have a face-to-face chat about a potential ceasefire in Russia’s war with Ukraine today.
When the two met on the “red carpet” laid out on the tarmac, American jets flying overhead, President Trump pulled a power move with his classic handshake. Trump pulled Putin’s hand inside, close to his own flank, a move that displays dominance. Experts say such a move is all about taking control of the upcoming conversation or meeting.
They say it’s also a move that displays respect and affection. Body language experts reveal that leaders do this to take control over an interaction with both a slight show of firm force, tinged with respect.

The two world leaders met on the tarmac, surrounded on all sides by F-22 fighter jets and B-2 bombers. Military experts say this is a clear display of strength that is meant to send Putin the message that America means business about this ceasefire. Trump has made it clear that there will be consequences for Putin should he try to sabotage peace talks.
Showcasing our military strength is a way of backing up that threat.
According to the White House, the meeting between the two men, taking part in Alaska, is a “listening exercise,” with low expectations for a deal to materialize that would end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Much of this is due to the caution taken by the U.S. amidst tensions in America’s relations with Russia as the conflict rages on.
The last time a U.S. president participated in a summit with Russia was during former President Joe Biden’s administration, just before Putin gave the order for his military forces to invade Ukraine. Trump’s ultimate hope for the meeting is to get Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to sit down with each other and work the situation out.
During an interview prior to the meeting, President Trump told Fox News anchor Bret Baier that if talks didn’t go well with Putin, he would walk out of the meeting and return home, making it clear this isn’t a game. All involved parties are treating the summit as a serious opportunity to bring a longstanding, deadly, and costly conflict to an end.
