WATCH: Trump Reveals His Top Pick For 2028 Nomination On Air Force One
President Donald Trump brushed off the idea of running as someone’s No. 2 in 2028 — saying Sunday he’s focused on keeping the GOP strong with what he called “great” rising stars, not playing second fiddle.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump laughed off the question of whether he’d entertain the idea of a vice-presidential run and also seemed to point at a clear frontrunner for his endorsement in 2028 – Vice President JD Vance.
“We have great people. I don’t have to get into that, but we have one of them standing right here. We have JD, obviously. The Vice President is great. Marco is great, I think. I’m not sure if anybody would run against those. I think if they ever formed a group, it would be unstoppable,” he said, pointing to Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as top prospects.
Trump, never one to skip a jab, also took a swipe at the left’s bench — mocking Rep. Jasmine Crockett and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as “low IQ” and joking about his own famous cognitive test.
“They have Jasmine Crockett, a low-IQ person. They have AOC’s low IQ. If you give her an IQ test, have her pass, like, the exams that I decided to take when I was at Walter Reed. I took those very hard, they’re really aptitude tests, I guess, in a certain way, but they’re cognitive tests. Let AOC go against Trump. Let Jasmine go against him,” he said.

“The first couple of questions are easy. A tiger, an elephant, a giraffe, you know. When you get up to about five or six, and then when you get up to 10 and 20 and 25, they couldn’t come close to answering any of those questions,” Trump added, in vintage form.
Pressed again on whether he’d run for VP, Trump admitted he technically could — but called the idea “too cute.”
“You’d be allowed to do that, but I wouldn’t do that. I think it’s too cute,” he said.
The comments came as Trump embarked on a five-day tour across Asia, landing in Japan early Tuesday to meet newly elected Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi — the first woman to lead the country. The president also said he’s open to a sit-down with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un while in South Korea, a possible sequel to their headline-making summits from his first term.
