Top-rated conservative journalist Tucker Carlson surprised fans by introducing Kid Rock at a concert in Gonzales, Louisiana on Saturday evening.
“I feel welcome, thank you!” Carlson said while speaking from a “president of the United States” podium complete with Kid Rock’s logo. “You may be asking, what am I doing here? And you know, I don’t really know. Thank you. So, I wound up here tonight because I was having dinner at my house with Kid Rock and a few months ago and he said — and I think he likes my house because you can smoke in my house — but he said you know you should come and open for me on my summer tour,” the former Fox News host explained.
Carlson went on to explain that he accepted the offer when he was an “unemployed talk show host” and took the gig knowing that he does not play an instrument.
He then shared that he had no idea what he was going to say until he was browsing the internet on Saturday morning. “And I read all these stories and I thought to myself, ‘this is the most depressing thing that’s happened to me in a long time. This country is fu**ed up,’ that’s what I thought. I did think that, which is a sad thing to think when you’re in bed. And I looked over at my wife and my four dogs and I thought, woo, I feel a little depressed,” he said.
“And then I got here and I walked through the crowd and I thought, no, no it’s not. The country they tell me about on the internet is fu**ed up. The country that I experience when I walk through this crowd, or when I wake up in my town of a hundred people in a rural area, is a beautiful country. Filled with beautiful people.”
Carlson has previously interviewed the pro-Trump rockstar on his Fox News program, as well as his solo Tucker Carlson news network.
