WATCH: Tucker Carlson Predicts The 2028 GOP Presidential Nominee
Tucker Carlson has never been shy about making bold political predictions, and his latest takes aim at the 2028 Republican presidential race. While President Donald Trump has remained neutral on the topic of his successor, Carlson has no such hesitation.
The conversation stemmed from a February interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, in which Trump declined to endorse his running mate for 2028. Instead, Trump simply noted that there were “a lot of very capable people.” The comment left some wondering whether the former president was hedging his bets or strategically avoiding early commitments.
But Carlson sees the decision as clear-cut.
“I think people want to leave a legacy, all of us, and great men especially do, and the only person in the entire Republican Party from my position who’s capable of carrying on the Trump legacy and expanding it, making it what it should fully be, is J.D. Vance,” Carlson said.
“I think his loyalty is without question and his service to Trump has been profound.”

Carlson added. “Look, the real battle here is between the people who care about the country primarily and people like Nikki Haley who don’t care at all about the country. They really care about the fortunes of foreign countries and that’s how they’re paid, so I get it.”
“But the pro-America side, I think is winning. It’s a constant battle, it never ends. But I think they will prevail in the end because ultimately a leader is responsible for his people, his nation, that’s how he’s judged,” he continued.

Carlson compared America’s leadership to that of foreign powers, making the case that strong nations prioritize their own people first. “We’ll return to equilibrium, like Chairman Xi, whatever you say about him, like he’s got China’s interests in mind. Vladimir Putin, totally obsessed with the fortunes of Russia.”
“You may disagree with what Putin does, you may not like Putin, whatever. He’s about what’s good for Russia. Our leaders have not been that way.”

WASHINGTON –Jan 30 2025: Vice President J.D. Vance speaks at a White House press briefing after a Black Hawk helicopter collided with American Airlines flight 5342 by DCA airport.
Vance, a former venture capitalist and author of Hillbilly Elegy, has risen quickly in conservative politics, becoming a figure in the administration. According to Carlson, Vance’s influence within the GOP is already apparent.
“He’s the vice president, but he has been a powerful partner for Trump. I don’t see any other, at this point, as of today, any other conceivable option.”
Carlson doubled down on his prediction, dismissing any other possible contenders. “I don’t see any other, at this point, as of today, any other conceivable option. I think J.D. Vance will be the nominee.”
While 2028 remains far off, Carlson’s endorsement signals that speculation about Trump’s political heir is already in motion. Whether Trump himself will eventually offer the same endorsement remains to be seen.
