WATCH: Wesley Hunt Shuts Down Anti-Trump Protestor, Shares Amazing Personal Story Of 45
During a dramatic moment at the Iowa Caucus on Monday night, Wesley Hunt, a GOP lawmaker, robustly defended former President Donald Trump against a protester’s accusations of racism.
Hunt, speaking at the Timberline Caucus, was interrupted by a protester who shouted that Trump was “racist.” Hunt responded by pointing out the irrelevance of the accusation, especially on Martin Luther King Day.
Hunt wrote on X, “But on this day, of all days, Martin Luther King Day, the people of Iowa, just like President Trump judge me not by the color of my skin but by the content of my character.”
WATCH:
Hunt used the floor to both defend Trump and criticize the current Biden administration. He stated, “This is the worst border crisis I’ve seen in my lifetime. We see it in Texas every day. This is the worst economy I’ve seen in my lifetime.”
Hunt also shared a personal story about Trump, reflecting on a moment at the Iowa State Fair. He recounted how Trump interacted with his daughter: “He scooped her up, looked at her and said, ‘you are a beautiful little girl, and you can be whatever you want in this world, and your daddy loves you.'”
He linked this to being judged by his character, not his race, stating, “Because on days like this, I realized I am literally being judged, not by the color of my skin, but by the content of my character.”

Powerful, powerful speech. And you hit it on the head – you won because of the content of your character
