“We Must Now Stop Mitch McConnell”: Trump Declares War on RINOs and Legacy Media

Many on the MAGA right were shocked by former President Trump’s decision to wholeheartedly back Rep. Kevin McCarthy for Speaker of the House, unsure why the former president would side with someone who seems like a less conservative than necessary, Establishment hack.

Based on Trump’s Truth Social posts, however, it appears that Trump is doing so not because of any real love for McCarthy but rather because he sees McCarthy, who relied on his help in making it through the fight for the Speaker’s gavel, as an ally in taking on Mitch McConnell and the other backstabbing RINOs.

Trump exposed such a strategy in a recent Truth Social post, reposting a video of Kevin McCarthy thanking him for the victory with the comment:

Great job Kevin! We must now stop Mitch McConnell and his China flagrant boss, Coco Chow. It’s as though he just doesn’t care anymore, he pushes through anything the Democrats want. The $1.7 TRILLION quickly approved Bill of the week before was HORRIBLE. Zero for USA Border Security. If he waited just ten days, the now “United Republican Congress” could have made it MUCH BETTER, or KILLED IT. Something is wrong with McConnell, and those Republican Senators that Vote with him. PRIMARY THEM ALL!!!

That post makes sense in the context of his posts about McCarthy during the Speaker votes, during which he called on Republicans to remain focused on defeating Mitch McConnell rather than splitting the party over Kevin McCarthy, saying things like:

“If Republicans are going to fight, we ought to be fighting Mitch McConnell and his domineering, China loving BOSS, I mean wife, Coco Chow. The harm they have done to the Republican Party is incalculable. Today, he couldn’t be elected “Dog Catcher” in Kentucky (Sadly, he only won because of my Endorsement, went up 21 points – SORRY!).”

Trump wasn’t just on the warpath against RINOs in his recent Truth posts. He also blasted legacy media in two posts, one attacking the New York Times and the other attacking late-night shows that attack him.

In the post about the NYT, Trump said “Remember when the lightweight and perennially wrong Failing New York Times Columnist Paul Krugman predicted that the Stock Markets and U.S. Economy would CRASH while I was in office. Well, he was 100% wrong, again. But it did later crash, as Inflation lifted it’s ugly head, after I was out – Self inflicted wounds all! If you sold the day I left, you would have made a “fortune!” Next time, when I leave, SELL…And don’t listen to dopey Paul Krugman.”

Then, in the post about the late-night shows, Trump said “Wow, those TRUMP Hating Late Night Network “Shows” are doing really badly…The worst ratings that those time slots have had (in Television History!). Why are the untalented fools who “host” paid so much? Does the DNC make a $contribution as a wing of the Democrat Party? They are all a total joke – Not Talent, No Laughs!“
